Rainy days can slow down your DSL connection

As a reminder, whenever there's more than a day of rain, Internet connections can slow down. The exterior cables that conduct the transmission tend to absorb some of the rain's moisture. In turn, resistance builds up and the transmission tends to slow down. If it seems your connection has slowed down, and indeed you've tested it at http://www.speedtest.net/ and confirmed the slowdown then, simply power cycle the modem.
QUICK GUIDE TO POWER CYCLING THE MODEM:
  • Remove power from the modem using the switch on the back or just unplug it if there is no switch.
  • Wait 10 seconds for the modem capacitors to discharge electricity.
  • Return power to the modem and wait for the modem's "power" and "ready" light to turn solid green.
